The
second Event was held at the Saltwater Fly and Boating Expo,
Kawana Waters, Sunshine Coast, Queensland on Saturday the
20th and Sunday 21st of April 2002.
The
weather, beautiful Queensland sunshine, 30 degrees and almost
still Saturday, Sunday, 10/15 knots South Eastly, directly
in the face of casters.
With
over 50 casters the Event has generated a following, and
with the strange non appearance of some 'gun' casters again.
Greg
Jackson's easy smooth style showed through with a cast of
more than a meter over his nearest competitor, and as a
result he took home the Aurora Conquest 5/6w - 8 foot rod,
Conquest reel and Talon 6w - WF F line.
Some
surprises were in store for the competitors and viewing
public when 16 year old Richard Vinson shot a 27.1 metre
cast, now this young man is a fellow to watch in the future.
And
then came his youngest brother, aged 9. This guy proceeded
to pull out a 16.6 metre cast, and I may add with ease.
We can only dream what his style and capabilities will be
at 16.

Distances, these distances were achieved with a AU$135.00
rod ! This is just not any rod, its a Talon Aurora package.
