Come
Fly Fish With Me, A
Way With Trout.
by
Graeme Bourke.
Book
review by our Salmon Fly Consultant Nick Kingston.
One of the first things that occurs to you about this
book, is its lack of pretensions.
There
is no long author biography regaling you with facts
and fancies on huge fish won and lost, or exotic locations
visited. Nor is there in incessant clanging of name-dropping
that some authors feel duty bound to do, in order
to impress that they are someone important.
Instead
you get frank admission that the author is not an
expert, but that this does not stop him from enjoying
his sport. That Graeme obviously loves and cares deeply
for the waters around him home is immediately apparent.
Like
so many of us he began by throwing hardware at trout,
then one day was comprehensively outfished by a friend
using fly gear. And so began his downfall. Graeme
goes on to describe how he begins to fish, practicing
his casting and finally manages to connect with his
first (and only) fish of the season on fly.
