Tonight I took along a friend K1 as he is known as he fishes a Double Hander also, well if you haven’t seen impossible bends on a fly rod, then one day try a 5/6w 12 foot Double Hander, a Trout Spey connected to a mean and cranky old girl Bass !
Not only did he connect once, twice and in the end, just gave up counting the number of fish hooked and released after over 15 !
And most of the fish came during the rain, that was just a few drops to bucketing down.
K1 and another 46cm fish
Myself I used the Talon WMD Double a 7/8w 12 footer and a slow sinking head which seemed to connect with more fish than K1′s floating line for the evening. My score was 20PLUS ! Yes a evening to remember for the rest of my life, as the best fishing possible with the added enjoyment of fishing with a friend who had the biggest smile possible on his face, even though it was raining.
Bass sizes, tonight ranged from plus 40 to 47cm, with most fish all the same size, 46cm
I lost the battle to two fish, that just took the fly and didn’t even think of being stopped therefore there must have been a few larger fish present in the darkness !
Some photos of tonights fish.
